The Matheson Ergonomic Evaluation Certification Program prepares allied health and safety professionals to contribute to the wellness and effectiveness of office, production and industrial workers through proactive identification, analysis and control of ergonomic factors.
Graduates come away from this program with an in-depth understanding of the use and limitations of a battery of risk assessment tools for work tasks requiring strength, upper extremity dexterity and whole body endurance. Coupled with newly acquired skills in office and industrial workstation design and layout, the evaluator will have the confidence to select the correct set of evaluation tools for any ergonomic positioning or risk scenario.
The Ergonomic Evaluation Certification Program is designed for those who want to gain a solid foundation in the performance of objective, defensible, and complete Ergonomic Evaluations. This is a practical, hands-on training program. The evaluation process taught in this course is based on current “best practice” standards. Tools learned include those based on NIOSH guidelines, ANSI protocols, and published industrial and clinical literature. Throughout your career you will refer back to the knowledge gained here when you judge new evaluation tools or training programs.
Graduates of this course use the skills gained to establish or improve industry- and office-based Ergonomic Evaluation programs. While graduates do establish their own consulting practices, many add risk assessment and Ergonomic Evaluation to their existing product line of services. Those sent for training by large industrial or office-focused companies return to their worksites to provide risk identification and remediation services.
Hands-on experience will be acquired as teams of students perform Ergonomic Evaluations of various media-recorded work situations. A digital media library of work tasks will be available to students; feel free to bring your own laptop with Window Media Player.
Completion of both the online curriculum and the three-day in person curriculum qualifies the student to begin the process of attaining the Certified Ergonomic Evaluation Specialist (CEES) designation. The application process requires completion of 20 field evaluations and submission of a sample of the applicant's field work. The list of companies sending staff for training and certification reads like the "Who's Who" of enlightened corporate America. Read the CEES policies & procedures for more information on the application process.
