Robert Ellis, PhD
Robert Ellis, PhD, received his PhD from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1974 and moved to New York to teach at SUNY Fredonia in 1975. He was licensed to practice Psychology in the State of New York in 1979. In 1976, he began working with the Chautauqua County Association for Retarded Children (now The Resource Center) and became their consulting psychologist in 1979. In 1988, he took a full-time position with The Resource Center as their Senior Psychologist and has continued in that position. Also in 1988, Dr. Ellis joined the National Academy of Neuropsychology because of concern that the problem ofdevelopmental disorders would benefit from insights being developed in the field of Neuropsychology. He has published and spoken on a variety of topics over the last 30 years including the development of conceptual rules in children, child abuse and locus of control, in-home family training in abusive environments through the use of parent aides, cross-examining neuropsychological "experts" and training models for the developmentally disabled.
