Does anyone have any experience or advice related to doing an ergonomic evaluation for someone with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia? The position is bus driver and they have told me that there is no changes that they are going to make to the buses because they just bought new ones. I figured I would look at position, force, repetition, etc. and use the z365. Any other insight would be great. Thanks!

Fibromyalgia

Hi Jon,
I polled the RMA erognomics instructors and received the following repsonse. I hope its helpful!

Fibromyalgia is a difficult condition that is poorly understood as to causation. It involves general muscle and joint pain that cannot be related directly to any systemic disease such as arthritis, and since it is general it is difficult to address any specific body segment or posture.

I would start with a few question related to how new is the bus this person is driving and is the onset of the fibromyalgia before or after the acquistion of the new bus. How long has the person been driving the new bus and have the symptoms changed (increased or decreased) since driving the new bus. Also, what are the features (i.e., seat adjustments, steering wheel force & adjustments, etc.) of the new bus as compared to the old bus?

This would be an interesting project to undertake but a few more questions must be answered.
