Hello,
In a recent report that was reviewed for rebuttal, the author of the FCE report referred to the Ergos Pain Scale. Is this similar to the Matheson Pain Scale? Is it proprietary (i.e. from the makers of Ergos)? Does anyone have access to a copy and any affiliated research that they could email me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. )
Since I have no experience with the ERGOS system, I passed your question on to a colleague who has experience with the ERGOS. I've copied her response here: "Generally speaking you would scan the patient?s response and presentation into the computer including their statement of pain level, functional limitations observed and ?psychophysical observations?. These are not all well defined within the manual or the system. The pain scale is generally vague (i.e. nominal pain, moderate, low intense, unbearable). It leaves a lot to the individuals perception/definition of what each means." She went on to say that at her clinic they changed their procedure to use the Matheson Functional Pain Scale. As the title states, the FPS is based on function that can be observed. I hope this helps.
