I just had a rather long meeting with a lawyer (court prep is so fun) and he asked about the Functional Pain Scale. Does it have a specific "reference" in the literature? The only reference I can find is that it is "copyrighted in 2001 by Matheson". Is there any journal article or study using the FPS?
thanks!
I don't think there is one for the RMA scale-anyone else?
Hi Brent (and Jim)
Below is Min Kyi's response when I asked him this question:
"FPS began with Min Trevor Kyi in 2001, with wording put forth to our RMA teaching team soon afterwards for discussion and tweaking. Typically, this should be referenced as Copyright for both Min Trevor Kyi and RMA. I am in discussions currently with the University of British Columbia to research and publish this scale, correlating the functional disability ratings with both pain and fatigue. At present, it is not published anywhere in the scientific literature, though I would approximate that it is being used at well over 300 clinics throughout North America.

Hope that helps a little and apologies it took me a bit to respond!
