I am finishing up an FCE that I just performed and am trying to find the best wording here....this client is ready to go back to work and exit the workers comp system...I am hovering around the statement "it is recommended that Mr B return to work and his case be brought to completion." Something just doesnt seem right. ANy thoughts?
Hello,
I am not a clinician, so I will also be forwarding your question on to your clinical advisor, but I do know that we often use the phrase "case resolution". So maybe saying something like "it is recommended that Mr B return to work in order to acheive case resolution" or something along those lines?
However, I will get a 'better' response to your question shortly.
Regards,
Jenn
Hello,
Well, like I said, I would find you a better answer than mine! I would go with what Jim is suggesting rather than what I wrote because I am not a clinician:
I would avoid suggesting case completion, case resolution or anything other than how the match between job demands and the abilities of the client turned out. That is unless you were asked to state whether or not the client's case was ready for resolution. How do you know? I would also articulate your statement a little more concisely-is Mr. B ready to return with restrictions? Without restrictions? You might even provide the name of the job he is ready to return to. As far as case closure recommendations, you never know-someone may have other ideas.... The risk of offending a reader (like a Board Certified Case Manager!) is too great. Just state what you found within your field of expertise. That may include a discharge from therapy from meeting goals, a plateau with therapy, and/or a return to work based upon your evaluation, but not necessarily case closure.
Hope that helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.
Jenn
