Just to clarify, what exactly is the criteria for determining EFFORT when REG values exceeds MVE values?
Is it based on percentage difference or weight difference?
In our book and from class in Nashville 2006 I have:
If REG is 12 lbs or greater above peak static score then this is indicative of decreased effort.
I also have a quote from the Journal of Hand Surgery in our manual that says, " The REG test may be considered positive if percent change in maximal grip is 25% or greater."
Thank you,
Jean Graf
Both references are in the manual. I personally tend to use the 12lbs rule as I seem to recall discussing that one at the FCE course. Finola

Joughlin give 16% as a value for (+) result.
Hamilton-Fairfax et al gave any increase as (+)
My concern(and of my collegue Mark Wurster, PT) is that using an absolute value of 12# does not offer a uniform percentage of differnce which inaccurately judges workers with very low and very high overall grip strength values. It appears that a percentage value cutoff point is a more uniform method of comparing reg and mve values.
