Wondering if anyone uses the subjective pain reports ie: oswestry, ransford, etc. with workers comp patients that are in a regular PT or OT program. Our staff debates with this issue, because they don't want these folks getting use to any of these questionnaires if there is a possibility that the patient may have an FCE. Any feedback would be great.
Thanks, Sue
I too think about a focus on pain with traditional rehab and especially with work conditioning. I do like using the Spinal and Hand Function Sorts with work conditioining and my company routinely uses the DASH for initial visits and MD visit dates.
I tend to avoid pain questionnaires with WC-just because my focus is on function and symptom negociation-not on "what is my exact pain level right now". In my expereince, I think the risks associated with clients getting used to pain questionnaires is minimal. In some cases, the McGill can help someone with an active disc communicate sx and use of it would be prudent. For the general public, I particularly like the Sorts as they are function based, not symptom based and can support and verify progress with WC.
