BTE is marketing heavily in our area to privately insured companies. They offer to go into the company (Employer Payer Services) and perform Job analyses and develop a Post-Offer test protocol (validation and everything) and then look for providers in the area who have the BTE system to act a referral source to perform the actual test protocol (sytem is approx $50K).
First of all, that's what I do. Next, they seem very expensive to the employer (around $190 per test- just for the Post Offer Test, not including what the company would have to pay for a drug test and physical exam with Occ Doc).
Do any of you folks out there have the BTE ER system? What do you think of it? Have any of you folks out there worked with BTE Employer Payer Services in this capacity?
They are marketing the Post Offer tests as "valid" in several ways that I think are very questionable at best.
I would be happy to provide my insights on this via email or telephone. I can be reached at
. Thanks.
The basics of Post_Offer are:
(1) a valid job analysis of the position in question
(2) a validated test for that position
(3) management of the legal issues involved in post-offer testing and hiring.
If one can effectively handle these issues then the challenge becomes marketing. Although you mentioned BTE as being the agent behind this program it really doesn't matter who it is if they can meet the requirements of this type of testing.
Another thing to keep in mind when competing for this type of business is:
(1) if you are local you should have an advantage because you will be there when the test is needed;
(2) if your expertise in job analysis and test development is as strong as the competition then you are not at a disadvantage;
(3) over the history of this business, companies they try to sell expensive equipment by promising referrals have always failed; there isn't a company around today that has been successful with this. Thing about Hanoun, Isotechnologies, Ergos, ARCON, etc. They have all 'left the building'...and at least one of them did not pay the providers for services they performed!
