I am in the process of meeting with HR and our WC carrier to discuss the implementation of a post offer program at our facility and had a question regarding test results being kept separately from the personnel file. I remember the instructor of the course mentioning the importance of keeping these two things separate, but do not remember why. I know this question will come up in the meeting and I want to be prepared to provide a good answer. Any input would be greatly apprecitated.
I think the important part to remember is to keep someone's medical information private and not part of the test results/criteria for passing a pre-placement screen. If the information is not essential to be viewed by others who are qualified to view it, it should remain private. I don't have my Post offer/pre placement coursebook with me, but this is what I think.
