Dear all,
In the Assessment manual of the FCE course of the Roy Matheson & Associates. It was mentioned that the MET level required for different physical demand classifications was according to the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT). And the following table of this typical energy requirement was also commonly printed in the Spinal Function Sort manual and Hand function sort manual. However, I have also searched the hard copy & website of DOT and also the reference list in the Ax manual of Roy Matheson, and still not find the relevant reference yet. Please kindly advise on the source of reference back up on "The MET level required for different physical demand classifications". Thanks so much!
Sedentary 1.5-2.1 METs
Light 2.2-3.5 METs
Medium 3.6-6.3 METs
Heavy 6.4-7.5 METS
Very heavy Over 7.5 METS

Energy requirement for different physical demand level

Greetings, Grace! I do not have the original reference for the MET grid on the Physical Demand Characteristics of Work Chart that original appeared
in the 1980's.

However, I am putting the finishing touchs on a new MET chapter for the FCE manual. The chapter includes a greatly expanded discussion of the MET grid including research that has been done since the '80's. That
research supports the original listing on the chart.

Be well!
Roy
