I have been using the Modified bruce treadmill test- - the % incline for level one is 12 % - This seems sooo very steep- Can some one please verify this for me? Thanks Karen T.

Correction
I think there has been an error here. For the Modified Bruce Treadmill Test, the first three "stages", speed, grade and METS are as follows;
Stage Speed Grade METS
0 1.7 mph 0% 1.7
1/2 1.7 mph 5% 2.9
1 1.7 mph 10% 4.7
Please refer to your FCE Certification Manual for more information-if you need a current table, please contact Jennifer at the RMA office. Hope this helps!
I concur with Jim's observation. Page 50 in chapter 12 of the 2010 manual lists the same figures as he lists.
