We are workign with moren and more work conditioning clients- Therea are alot of pieces of equipment to purchase- What are the "best" pieces to work with/purchase? What equipment for work simulation are used the most and which do therapist like the best? Thank You Karen T. :?
Hello Karen,
I passed your question along to our clinical advisor and this is what he said:
I, of course, like the Matheson Dexterity Panel System and/or the Valpar 9.
What to purchase would depend a lot upon what type of industry she is seeing-
many times, materials and devices can be provided by the employer. Among the
most adaptable and cheapest things to aquire/purchase;
Pile Boxes (lifting evaluations and work circuts)
Pipe Tree (2") mounted on a board
Vice, scrap wood and a file-"wood carving" out a silhouete
Pawn Shop/Thrift Store;
Misc. Tools (wrenches, pliers, saws)
Vacuum Cleaner/Golf Ball pushing activity
Cheap Appliances with the cord cut off
Old Computer CPU-take appart/put back together
Vice
From Clinic;
Wheelchair-push/pull add weights in seat
Push Broom/vacuum, mop, window cleaner
Folding linens (clean!)
Clean/lubricate exercise equipment
Move boxed copy paper/transfer reams full-empty box
Just some ideas-keep it cheap!
I hope this helps! As a side note, I'm not sure, but I thought they stopped manufacturing the Valpar 9. They may have resumed production however..
Regards,
Jenn
