Following years of requests to shadow Dr. John LaCourse, CPE #83, through an actual on-site ergonomic evaluation, Matheson presents this unique learning experience! Participants will work in groups as they view media and actually enter the field assessing office, commercial or industrial sites. This course is for the dedicated student: the program requires participation in an introductory meeting on the evening before the workshop, a full day of activities, and evening activities entitled "Build-the-Case" where the participants work with the instructor to develop convincing written reports with collected data and interpretation that are court defensible. The student must also keep up with other members of the group during their on-site ergonomic evaluation.
The course will take the participant through risk factor identification: measurement of risk factors, commonly used task surveys for the upper extremities and the whole body, lifting formulas and tables.
Site visits and classroom work will be combined to address these topics:
Identification of Risks Factors and Their Severity
Physical Measurement of Risk Factors
Whole Body and Upper Extremity Evaluation Tools
Manual Material Handling
Data Analysis and Constructing Evidence
Tools taught and used in this practical course include:
Rapid Entire Body Assessment
Rapid Upper Limb Assessment
ANSI-Z365
